Psychotherapy and Counselling Service

Do you have a Goal for Your Therapy or Do you just want to feel better?

If we are feeling mentally out of sorts, it can be difficult to make sense of our experience alone. By coming to therapy you have a safe place to bring your stresses, upsets, frustrations, confusion and anything else that is bothering you. Therapy gives you time to focus on just you in a space where there is support with no judgement.

Type of session

In-person sessions are many client's preference which provide a fuller, more personal, and more focused experience. My client-centred therapy room provides you with a calm, quiet, private and containing environment for sensitive conversations.

Online sessions can also be very effective and can give you easier access to therapy, offering flexibility when time, energy and other commitments are additional considerations.

A hybrid approach is available at my practice if that suits you.

We don't so much solve our problems, as we outgrow them. We add capabilities and experiences that eventually make us bigger than the problems.

Carl Jung.

About my work

Passion

I am passionate about helping people change their lives. Time after time I see the positive impact that psychotherapy can have. Many clients move on feeling lighter, more hopeful, reenergised and with results that exceed their expectations.

Approach

My approach is collaborative and interactive, and whether I use psychotherapy, counselling or coaching techniques, your needs are central. Above all, our work will be focused on empowering you to find your own path and solutions, with me as a guide along the way.

Tools

I will often introduce you to useful tools and techniques to not only help you now with not only the challenges you face now but to also equip you for future ones.

Experience

I have extensive experience supporting individuals and couples with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, relationship challenges and loss.

Expertise

Backdrop

I specialise in exploring unhelpful behavioural patterns, often focusing on attachment styles, early childhood experiences and discovering what happened to make you who you are. We are like a recipe and it's so important to understand your own unique ingredients.

Relationships

I am skilled at understanding you from a conscious and unconscious perspective because of my specialised training and experience.

  • Relationship with you - Your primary relationship is the one you have with yourself, and to know yourself better is a gift to you. This internal relationship often gets overlooked but your self-talk and your self-worth are fundamental in how you experience your life and others. I can support your personal journey of self exploration, which can have far reaching results.
  • Relationship with others - I can support you with navigating your relationships with family, friends, and work colleagues. I can work with you to gain insights into how you and they interact together to create the dynamic you have.
  • Relationship with intimate partner - I am experienced in helping couples navigate a variety of relationship challenges, including infidelity, trust issues, difficulties with sex and intimacy, and non-traditional relationship structures. For those who may find it relevant, I offer kink-ware therapy, with a respectful and open approach to BDSM and alternative lifestyles.

Neurodiversity

I have an extensive experience working with individuals with ADHD and ASD. both professionally and personally, which has given me a deep understanding of how to support their differences and the effects of neurodiversity.

The Body

Inspired by The Body Keeps The Score and my personal experience incorporating somatic awareness into therapy, I integrate approaches like mindfulness, poly-vagal theory, and breath work when suitable to best support my clients. In relation to the body, I have a deep understanding of physical health challenges, including those associated with miscarriage, menopause and hormonal/endocrine issues.

Early life

Through extensive personal research into my own birth and post birth experiences, I have developed a deep interest in the pre-cognitive experiences that shape us in the earliest moments of life. Experiences such as trauma in utero, separation from caregivers at birth, and early adoption - events that occur before we have the capacity for conscious memory - can leave profound imprints on both our minds and bodies. These early experiences may influence our emotional and physiological responses, shaping how we navigate relationships, cope with stress, and develop our sense of identity. Through therapy I can help you explore these deep seated imprints, uncovering how they still may be affecting you in unconscious ways.

For Individuals

My extensive experience covers a wide range of challenges, including but not limited to;

Anxiety

Stress

Depression

Relationship challenges

Trauma

Health concerns

Grief and Loss

Overwhelm

Betrayal

Sense of self

Sexuality

Life changes and transitions

Neurodiversity

Sex

Whatever is causing you distress, whether it is related to the past, present or future, we can give it some time and space. Often, when we focus on one issue there can be a knock on effect. As you get to know yourself more, other aspects of your life change in positive ways. Learning more about yourself in therapy can open up your emotions, your capacity, your resilience, your confidence and your self compassion. Put another way, you can become better equipped to deal with whatever comes your way.

I want you to be everything that's you, deep in the centre of your being.

For Couples

A positive aspect of Couples counselling is having the opportunity to put some shared time aside together, to have the conversations that are easy to put off, and hard to have. Being in a supportive therapy room and space, can often provide the safety needed to bring up sensitive thoughts and feelings. The neutral witnessing of couple interactions can help defuse tension and emotional dysregulation, helping both parties to process difficulties together.

There are many starting positions for Couples therapy, with one or both parties wanting to invest in rebuilding the relationship. The following are common challenges we can address together:

General breakdown of relationship

Communication difficulties

Conflict resolution

Infidelity or breach of trust

Loss of emotional intimacy

Loss of sexual intimacy and sexual problems

Challenges of a blended family

Significant and unexpected life changes

Changing life goals

Role changes

Cultural or sexuality challenges

Consciously navigating the end of a relationship

It is natural to feel reluctant about Couples therapy if you and your partner are not on the same page, and by nature of the work, very often this is the case. Coming to sessions will provide insights into your individual behaviours and challenges, as well as giving you some relationship tools to use.

Couples therapy is not only for those in romantic relationships. Any two people who are experiencing distressed in their relationship are welcome to my couples counselling, for example, siblings, friends, work colleagues and parent-child relationships.

You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way and the only way, it does not exist.

Friedrich Nietzsche.
