I offer private psychotherapy and counselling sessions to adult Individuals and Couples dealing with both current challenges and long standing issues. My confidential and ethical approach comes together with a wealth of professionalism, expertise and experience.
It is important that you find a therapist that provides a safe and supportive environment for you and is someone you feel comfortable with. Beyond anything else, the quality of relationship with your therapist is the main influencer of successful outcomes.

Goal of Your Therapy
Whatever goal you have for yourself, whether you are struggling with a particular aspect of your life, or you are embarking on a journey to further understanding yourself, together we can work towards that desire. For some of you, there may not be a destination, but instead a desire to have a secure and safe place where you are welcome to bring yourself and feelings, where you know there is unwavering support to help regulate either or both.
Type of session
Many clients choose in-person sessions which provides a fuller, more personal and more focused experience. My client-centred therapy room provides a calm, quiet, private and containing environment for sensitive conversations.
Online sessions can also be very effective and can give clients easier access to therapy, offering flexibility when time, energy and other commitments are additional considerations. A hybrid approach is available at my practice if that suits you.
Of paramount importance is that you are get what you need from our sessions, and that you need what you get, so we will constantly review our direction.
We don't so much solve our problems, as we outgrow them. We add capabilities and experiences that eventually make us bigger than the problems.

Whatever is causing you distress, whether it is related to the past, present or future, we can give it some time and space. Often, when we focus on one issue there can be a knock on effect. As you get to know yourself more, other aspects of your life change in positive ways. Learning more about yourself in therapy can open up your emotions, your capacity, your resilience, your confidence and your self compassion. Put another way, you can become better equipped to deal with whatever comes your way.
I want you to be everything that's you, deep in the centre of your being.

A positive aspect of Couples counselling is having the opportunity to put some shared time aside together, to have the conversations that are easy to put off, and hard to have. Being in a supportive therapy room and space, can often provide the safety needed to bring up sensitive thoughts and feelings. The neutral witnessing of couple interactions can help defuse tension and emotional dysregulation, helping both parties to process difficulties together.
There are many starting positions for Couples therapy, with one or both parties wanting to invest in rebuilding the relationship. The following are common challenges we can address together:
General breakdown of relationship
Communication difficulties
Conflict resolution
Infidelity or breach of trust
Loss of emotional intimacy
Loss of sexual intimacy and sexual problems
Challenges of a blended family
Significant and unexpected life changes
Changing life goals
Role changes
Cultural or sexuality challenges
Consciously navigating the end of a relationship
It is natural to feel reluctant about Couples therapy if you and your partner are not on the same page, and by nature of the work, very often this is the case. Coming to sessions will provide insights into your individual behaviours and challenges and may give you some relationship tools to use.
Couples therapy is not only for those in romantic relationships. Any two people who are experiencing distressed in their relationship are welcome to my couples counselling, for example, siblings, friends, work colleagues and parent-child relationships.
You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way and the only way, it does not exist.

In therapy we can be sharing ourselves fully, and you want to know that you are in safe hands. Knowing first-hand how important it is to feel comfortable and safe in a therapeutic relationship, I want to give you this extended opportunity to get to know me and to see how you feel.
Typically individual sessions are weekly, at the same time. We can meet in-person, in Chalfont St Peter, or online via zoom.
The number of sessions will depend on you, and the work.
We can agree to short term work which would mean containing within a set number sessions, for example, 8 sessions. Alternatively, we can work longer term, in an open-ended way.
Couples sessions may start weekly, and move to bi-weekly. You may also choose to commit to a fixed number of sessions initially.
Single sessions are available on request and with due consideration.
Concessions may be offered in particular circumstances and the full fee may be reduced. We can explore this together.
